I tried listening to this again, seeing as you guys seem so hyped up about it, turned out I was right in giving it a 1. This is the most boring, generic, shitty, rehashed metalcore I've ever had the misfortune of listening to. What do you guys even see in this fucking horrible album?
|

DAMN, I was expecting some lame ass metalcore. But this sounds heavy as fuck. Good fucking job.
They should just re-name it to "The Powerful Rise"
Edit: Rating this a 1-star makes you look stupid and will not give you credibility.

I don't have any problem with 1-star ratings, as long as there's a good reason behind them. A lot of the time, though, there isn't. Same holds true for five-star ratings (I think I've only ever used one of those). But yeah, comments like "boring, generic, shitty, rehashed metalcore" don't mean anything - we've heard it all.

I'd love to hear what metalcore you've heard previously. Probably the boring generic stuff.
Listened to this last night. It's really really bad.

I don't really see how this could be viewed as worse than slightly below average to be honest. I really enjoyed this, and it's definitely better than a lot of "really really bad" metalcore bands' efforts
|

Anything that is not Converge, Between the Buried and me and Botch is boring generic stuff ofc.
If you enjoy and appreciate KSE, Trivium and AILD you are silly.
*sarcasm*

So basiclly, you just don't like metalcore period.

Why don't you like Killswitch? AILD (before An Ocean Between Us) I can understand. Trivium I can understand (although I do enjoy them from time to time). But Killswitch has some really good material, especially (do I even need to say it?) in Alive or Just Breathing. As Daylight Dies has some great emotional passages as well.

I'm not surprised at all that this is great, these guys have been doing this for many years now.

Only generic bands I really have a soft spot for is August Burns Red and Parkway Drive.
This is the definition of average metalcore though. So much better stuff out there, and being released this year.
Knut's new album for instance.

This really isn't too generic.
|
| |
Knut and all those other bands mentioned at the top are a totally different breed of metalcore though. All these may be in the same genre, but I still think they're incomparable.
|
| |
anyways, i am proclaiming Upside Down Kingdom metal song of the year.

Band should change the name to "As I Lay, Getting Gay". Then their name would rhyme and be descriptive of the members.

We have to put things into perspective, I suppose. After the release of Periphery there's obviously going to be people who see this as generic...

Periphery's album was enjoyable.
Then I got to the 5th song and was all like, SHIT NEEDS TO END.
I mean if they'd had any sort of variation it'd be amazing. But ya no.
Also with AILD not being compared to Knut, as soon as you faggots stop calling AILD metalcore, especially seeing as they have no hardcore elements, then I'll stop comparing them.
Until then I'm gunna carry on.
