might make my top 10 but this style of dm isn't my personal favorite. i don't disagree about it being essential though, for sure. this is just preference.

yea this and mortal throne are pretty even for me. DC isn't as good as these two for sure

honestly think gorement's quest album is better than any incantation and the style is quite similar

its a bit more straighforward and incantation might be better songwriters but that gorement record is smooth as a babys head

Nah I dig Immolation for sure but still not a top 10 band for me.

Based on Snox's list I'd probably add OfC to mine as well. Possessed if you call them DM and not death thrash, then yeah, also a contender. Darkthrone for Goatlord alone is up there but Soulside also rules hard.

most of these bands have 1-2 excellent to essential albums, Immo has 2 essentials and like 4 excellent ones so yeah top band

Yeah adr Immo rule, tons of great albums, but as far as my preference goes, they aren't in my top 10.

I just tend to prefer some of the earlier, more raw/thrash influenced kind of stuff, but I still love the more technical (Gorguts, Immolation, etc) as well.
