Thank you Countess for realizing that Opeth has been releasing the same album for the past 10 years. No one seems to get that.

Eh, I kind of feel the opposite, but to each is own. Or her own.

@Hyperion i see where youre coming from but i disagree. They have kept the core of their sound since MAYH but have made some minor changes and adjustments from album to album. Like on this one its the heavier use of keys that gives parts like the end of Ghost Of Perdition its big epic sound or help The Grand Conjuration achieve its eeriness

I was thinking about doing that for Still Life. I finally forced myself to listen to it and it's not that great at all. It's like "hey cool i have a cool riff lets play it for 2 seconds then use the same key tone every single other song of ours is played in, and the have an acoustic breakdown...

The only 3 albums of theirs that you can say are all that similar are Still Life, BWP, and this. And I feel like with each consecutive release they've improved on that sound.

I'm pretty sure this whole album is played in Drop D, something that Opeth rarely did in the past.

Plus they used a lot of diminished sounding chords on their earlier albums but not on this.

These 2 things make this album pretty different from the earlier ones IMHO
