"its fine to not like them, sure, but denying how important they are to popular music doesnt make too much sense imo" Influence on popular music is insignificant. Especially when most things influencing the pop format are non musical. (e.g fashion, sexuality, the worship of the rock frontman)

And yes there’s a basic message of spreading love in their lyrics. And yes, I find most of their psychedelic era music to range from complex to effective.
|
| |
Influence on popular music is not insignificant.
|
| |
I mean, they did influence a whole lot more than just pop artists.

"Stop fucking assuming what I listen to just because I’m a Beatles fan!! “Ur a Beatles fan you must only like basic music hurdur”"
Why are you putting words in my mouth, asshole? When did I ever say that you only listen to basic music, you moron? You know, I wasn't planning on insulting but I don't appreciate what you just did.
|
| |
@minushuman24 Sure but their influence is about as important as David Bowie getting credit for the ideas of krautrock and Eno. Or Elvis for popularising black music for whites.

“Oh, and if you think the Beatles music isn't simplistic you haven't listened to a lot of music” - Alexander MR
Stop trying to sneak insults in and then act like you didn’t say them.
|

“Or Elvis for popularizing black music for whites” okay that’s funny
|
| |
It’s just Beatles hate gets so rediculous sometimes. I actually enjoy them more for their music than their influence.
A couple pages ago was just a celebration of a fantastic remaster for this album, but this dude just had to come in with his wall of text copypasta quotes just to be a tool. And then he plays it off like he’s an unbiased listener and that we clearly are fans of “simplistic music.”

You like the simpsons

the Beatles were respectful and fluent in the cultures they took inspiration from

Nah, Ghandilion was actually correct about that. Record companies would have white artists cover black artists in order for it to be more "Acceptable". Although again, no one can deny the influence Elvis had. I'm not a huge fan of his music personally--there's some decent stuff in there.
Anyway, I think it's silly it say that a popular musician's influence can be called insignificant. Without Bowie I would have never listened to Eno, and I believe many artists would have not taken a more experimental path without a gateway artist. (though I believe that Bowie did a lot more than just that). The same with the Beatles, they evolved their pop music into a more interesting and experimental pop genre, and reshaped pop music as a whole. They may be a mainstream band, but they influenced countless people to either start writing their own songs or to dig deeper. One may not care for the Beatles music, I do, but I think it's extremely ignorant to label the band's influence as insignificant.
Anyway yeah, this album is too long for real tho

"Stop trying to sneak insults in and then act like you didn’t say them."
How does that mean that you only listen to basic music? It means that it doesn't look like you haven't listened to a lot of music, not the same thing.

I know some people feel as if it steps on toes, but I love it when a band can successfully incorporate other cultures of music.
|
