I mean I only have this one at a 3.5, this is real early demo'ish thrash - even more so than 'Kill 'Em All', some tunes on it though.



'Peace Sells' is where it gets going...then the quality control and production drops on 'So Far So Good' but it has a few classics, and then you hit 'Rust in Peace' which is polished but amazingly written.



I prefer the Mustaine growl to operatic stuff like Dio or Dickinson, but that's personal taste.

Not even close for me, Dickinson and Dio are some of my favs ever. Dave is a killer guitar player, but idk if I'll ever be a fan of his vocals lol.

Dude's have none of the required anti authoritarian snotty attitude, it'd be laughable.



Even Hetfield it wouldn't sit right on those songs...Dave writes well for Dave, so it would have been fascinating if he'd remained in Metallica.



Megadeth sound a bit nastier than Metallica…a tonne nastier than Anthrax…and god bless them I don’t get any nastiness translated by Maiden at all.

i agree of course. dave is dave. he is the band. one of a kind. i didn't even love his vocals at first but now they are just so fundamental to my enjoyment of megadeth. his snarl is wonderfully emblematic of his personality.



this is one i've grown to really dig a lot. i love how raw and dirty it is. plus the insane speed and jazzy touches. perfectly of it's time and yet so far ahead.

I like Dave’s vocals because they’re obviously different and he has his own unique style, especially with the emphasis on certain syllables. Angry Again is a perfect example. I love the fact that he’s such a bitter dick too. He’s an icon no matter how you slice it. He’s on the Rushmore of thrash metal.

What I will say is once the tempo drops and Megadeth enter more hard rock/heavy metal territory on Youthanasia etc then there’s more of an argument other singers could do a technically better job with the vocals and it wouldn’t matter so much.



Obviously not on tunes like Sweating Bullets that are just so Dave but yes a ‘better’ singer could make ‘A Tout le Monde’ sound nice I’m sure, though again I’ll say you always get the personality and passion from Mustaine.
