I think it's a good gesture that the artists at least get some money. Plus spotify is faster than waiting for a download + it doesn't fill your harddrive

The U.S definitely have some of the best bands but for as many good as there are bad they are few when compared. Certain niches or movements in certain areas and genres each contain quite a few good bands. I was just saying that Europe and England together have more good bands(atleast well known) in comparison to bad bands. .
