When Sergio shouts/screams live on songs like My Own Summer it's horrible.

I'd like to see them again because I hear they are changing up their setlists (for instance playing Hole in the Earth and Risk). When I saw them they sounded great but the setlist was pretty standard Deftones. Soo tired of hearing them open with fucking rocket skates and I hate how they slow it down for the chorus

Sergio isn't as bad as Kirk Hammett at backup vocals though

Also Chi was like amazing at backup screams and shit

honestly I don't think Chino's actually been hit or miss to any substantial degree since like 2006

I don't know if I've heard a bad performance from him beyond that point, including the 2 times I've seen them recently

I think being at the gig does make you care less about the vocals and analyse them less critically-you're just stoked to see a band you like. Having said that, Chino sounds pretty good to me on most live vids I've seen.

"his vox probably slightly inferior"

probably no, it is. as for them being decent, yea they were and did the job.

"I think Chi's got the typical posthumous idolatry treatment"

the guy was with them near since the beginning, 20 something years. it was a big hit for the band and fans. it's not just his skills that are missed.

i agree with Mike, as someone who became a fan around the DE era it was always kind of an eyeroller when people acted like Sergio was majorly inferior to the bass-godliness of Chi or whatever

it didn't happen that often, and it was understandable for the reasons Relinquished posted but like gee, give the guy a chance. it's not like they had much other choice outside of disbanding altogether

I feel like I would be able to make a comment on Sergio's bass playing if I could actually hear him on De/Koi/Gore other then a couple moments.

Agreed hard, the bass is pushed back so far in the mix it hurts tbh.
