Yeah Portal, this year is shaping up to be in the Top 3 since the year 2000

2016 was my favorite year (for metal at least) in recent memory. I have one 5 maybe every other year or so but I had 3 that year (and a bunch of 4.5s).

But just in general yeah, not even halfway through the year and I'm overwhelmed with quality stuff.

Also, new track is better than the first single. Amazing stuff.

2013 was the Big Year for me. Echoes of Battle, Das Tor, Roots, Pelagial (and Collective Oblivion), Omega Arcane, Coal, Sunbather, Seventh Swamphony, Born of Slime, No Morrow Shall Dawn, Colored Sands, Vermis, Habitual Levitations, Bu-Tik, À L'Âme Enflammée, Surgical Steel, To Sail Black Waters, and Asa are all like, top-150ish all time albums for me.

Yeah just off the top of my head, 2013 seems the best in the last decade+ for me. I'd really have to go back though and see what came out between 2017-2020 because fuck I can't remember

"Definitely has more of Stare Into Death vibes than the other single. Kind of on the fence about it. There's just so much happening at one time it becomes too dense to tease apart."

That's what I'm loving the most about it. The one concern I had about Cutting was the band going too far in the melodic direction but it seems like they've retained the melody while bumping the intensity back up to about where it was on Shrines. So much interplay between the guitars it's unreal 🙏🙏

I checked the first single and thought it was lit

encouraged by what I’ve heard about the 2nd, but may go back to my usual stance of pretending singles don’t exist

preserving the potential greatness or some shit!

the t/t here is one of the best songs they've ever written and it's a huge reason why i have this at a 4.5 instead of a 4

If the two singles are any indication it's gonna be their best album. Much more immediate than this one, which admittedly took awhile for me to really get into.

Love the more melodic approach on these new songs while still keeping it m/

Yeah,I preordered the vinyl and can't freakin' wait. SIDABS sounded so much better on vinyl than on digital platforms, so I want to enjoy it in all its awesomeness from the get go!
