I got no issues with the Andy Sneap sound. Bass sounds fine. All I care about is that Dave isn't ruining songs anymore.

I'm not hating on Andy Sneap per say because he's a goddamn awesome musician, and his productions aren't bad, but they sound 'safe' to a fault at times. Still beats the fake, processed sound from other producers, but a little dirt and grime goes a long way imho.
"Hides Dave's vocal shortcomings a lot better, even though Take No Prisoners took a hit in the process."
I find this interesting because his vocals are louder on the remaster. They sound like they took his voice and gave it a small Rick Rubin treatment to make it louder and clipped in the process.

The original mix has a lot of... space to it and Dave is front in center. So when he stinks up the joint with some whiny off-key bullshit (DISCHARGE MAAAH PEYYYLOHD being just one example), it *hurts*. Whereas in the remaster his voice and the guitars are kinda squished together so it helps cover it up. Not normally what you want out of a mixing/mastering job, but in this case it works out.

"DISCHARGE MAAH PEYYLOHD"
its funny that part is brought up, because I always liked how manic he sounds in those moments. He's really a love it or hate it vocalist - on this album I love every second of what he does.

Technically speaking, Dave fucking sucks as a vocalist. But the pieces really fell together on this record specifically. Guyman is on the money, he sounds desperate and it works very well here.

I mean it is the highest rated metal album here for a reason so yeah. m/

Yeah I don't think anyone could responsibly argue he's a talented singer, but he's proven from time to time to be an effective vocalist.

No snarly Dave vocals, no Megadeth. For me it's as simple as that.

And btw, the remaster is terrible beyond words.

I sometimes think Dave is an awful vocalist, but then I remember Terminal Redux exists

Terminal Redux vocals are pretty good for the most part???
i don't mind the remaster, I like that the instruments feel a bit more glued together cus in the original mix it's maybe a bit too clean and "empty" sounding, like all the instruments are kind of isolated sonically

It's exactly the opposite for me. The orignial version was perfect. Organic and at the same time energetic with a great dynamic range. The new version is compressed af and the vocals, especially the parts in two voices, sound kind of unreal and are almost unbearable. They managed to ruin the character of the original.

I'm amazed someone actually seems to likes the remaster.
Damn, sorry for the pagebreak, guess we'll do another page of this.
