His vocals are the best here but also I think this material could sound good covered by different vocalists, whereas I'm not sure with some of the thrash'ier stuff.
Hawks, if you want to skim over the later era stuff sometime I'd particularly recommend 'The System has Failed', but also 'Endgame' and 'Dystopia' aren't bad too.

yeah doof saw you say that in the kimb thread. you're definitely right but dave deserves so much credit for adapting to radio and sounding as good as ever. many fall flat on their face and pretty much everyone thought dave would fail with his unorthodox style.

Haha Futures, thanks for listening ;)
I'm still a bit amazed that Dave Mustaine of all people adapted his vocals to sing melodic rock and effectively (non sappy) radio friendly rock ballads.

Honestly this is sounding way better to me than their 80s stuff. I don't know what it is about it, but it's way less grating than their earlier stuff for me.

This one breathes. The guitars are tuned down a half step which accommodates his vocals a little more seamlessly. Straight up heavy metal too.

Victory is a much superior sign-off song than The Last Note - funny he was in his prime in 94

Megaballads are also quite underrated. They never quite reached the heights of Metallica or Pantera but I always thought all their attempts were consistently pleasant.

This album is very retrospective, he's speaking like he's walking away. At the time I thought he might
