I will say, my favorite version of Thriller is definitely the special edition from 2001. Lots of cool extras, especially the interviews with Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton regarding the making of the album
Plus, Someone in the Dark - despite how cheesy it is - is still quite a beautiful song

The 2001 version has great extras. It's a slightly more compressed version but I think some people would like the balance of loudness vs. DR. It's louder but still really good. A lot better than the 25th Anniversary release. I still prefer the earlier masters. They just have more space and depth, which is more for me. It's great to have the option of both but personally the 25th Anniversary one is a step too far.
