Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till sound pretty close, only that Scott could sustain the lower growls much longer. They became a two face monster by the time TSIB came.

Which is even more amazing this works as much as it does, with none other than Aaron Turner.

I dont vibe with Sumac post What one becomes because everything from Love in shadow onward is just that overly long wanky bullshit. Yes all that wanky bullshit is still very good and impressive but jesus christ reign it in a bit

Its certainly one of the best releases from this year and maybe edges out stuff from last year. I dont want to be overly zealous with grand declarations of it yet though decade wise

This is fantastic but i want to have it sit with me a bit longer and see how it ages after the intial "Holy fuck" they are back shock wears off

Still listening to nothing but neurosis with some Isis mixed in. Having an amazing time of it. Souls at Zero is like nothing I’ve ever heard. It’s post metal but it still has that punky hardcore energy to it. It’s so cool to finally hear what everyone else has been hearing for 30 years. Always respected neurosis, but they’re quickly climbing up my list of favorite bands overall.

What a fucking band.

You should be fam, I know I’m probably mostly alone with this take but Souls at Zero is probably my least favorite of their records aside from Fire Within Fires and Honor Found in Decay, and obv the very first two.

Seriously man, I even like Souls at Zero quite a bit, but their streak from Enemy of the Sun to Given to the Rising is absolutely fucking unreal. One of the best discographies in all of metal.

Look at all these 5s… I was actually thinking today I might bump this to a 5 myself. It’s so damn good the whole way through. Pure catharsis
