I love how 90s infinite source sounds. That’s the early highlight for me

I like that, gives the “wall of sound” moments a little more oomph

Chino in the mix has him one with the boys instead of having to give frontman energy on record. His voice has always been a vital instrument to the music, and for that it’s never been about the volume.

Locked Club is so good, easily one of my favorites here

Solid album, not as good as DE or KNY but it's not far behind, I'd put it ahead of Ohms though. Milk of the madonna is song of the year for me so far.

It’s a damn good song for sure. Top 3 certainly… kinda wish it wasn’t a single tbh

I’d like for songs that strong to be saved for a full album experience. It blew my nips off when I heard it for the first time but hearing it right off the heels of i think about you all the time would’ve sent me into another fucking plane of existence

looking back now infinite source probably would’ve been my first pick for a single after my mind is a mountain. Pretty much anything other than souvenir, i think about you all the time, milk of the madonna, or departing the body would’ve been preferred tbh, possibly not ~metal dreams either, I don’t really love it when later album songs or, god forbid, the closer is a single.
I don’t think I’ve ever once seen an album closer as a single during album rollout and thought it was a good idea. The most egregious example I can think of off the top of my head is Foxing releasing Speak With The Dead as the lead single for their record a few years back, it’s not only the climax of the album but probably the most emotionally devastating song they’ve ever made. And of course then there’s Ohms, which is still profoundly stupid imo.
Shit like that should not be heard before an album drop.

Was inspired to relisten to Ohms, been at least a year probably. And yeah, I had forgotten how good it was. Definitely a 4.5 as well, really nearly as good as this tbh. But slightly behind. Really has quite a number of great tracks on it.

Would you say these guys are more popular now than they were at their peak?
They were on mainstream talk shows and shit around white pony era but my parents still insist they never heard them, now tik tok seems to have latched on and made them semi mainstream among the younger gen

Pompeji a is straight up top 3 worst deftones tracks ever written. I don't know what they were thinking with that one or what Chino was thinking with that horrendous chorus.
Agreed, Pompeji “sucks” (for Deftones). But ohms has a bunch of killer tracks Genesis, spell of mathematics, ohms, error, this link is dead, radiant city AND headless!

Great question. I’d say yes, in a way. They were very popular back in the day, but they’re more mainstream now. If that makes sense. Their current sound is more digestible/acceptable for the masses. I think more people would know who they are today, than would have said they knew who they were back in white pony days. Self titled came out after WP and they definitely lost a lot of popularity at that point. When SNW came out, they were probably at their lowest point as far as popularity goes.

Haven't liked a Deftones album since Koi No Yokan (personally, their peak for me), so thought I was done with this band. But might need to check this out. Just hope it isn't as overhyped as Ohms, I couldn't get on board with that one at all.

"diamond eyes has by far their best production imo, they should have stuck with that"
Bro how? That record is so compressed and could really use some EQ improvement... SNW, self-titled and AtF all have better production (if I remember correctly).

I like Ohms plenty enough, but it's crazy how this is only 4 minutes shorter than Ohms and yet feels significantly tighter in structure and overall song length.
