early incubus was my shit. they were never really nu metal though. maybe a little on science but not really.

Until White Pony they were nu metal. But there are bands like Nothingface, Snot Crossbreed, Static X ,Sevendust, Nonpoint ,Spineshank or Ultraspunk which are also good. The whole nu metal thing is not only compossed by the most mediatic material.
