the way to negate the "cleaning/barking lull" is just by removing cleaning honestly. wastes space on this tracklist but where the rest of this has kinda lost its luster overtime barking remains one of this albums most integral tracks
part of what makes looks like nothing work at all here is being paired with gratitude tbh, keeps them as brother songs since they share the same key. looks like nothing divorced from that and going straight into dead cat would if anything, turn that track into the "lull point"
for me this is the ideal tracklist for this album:
1. secret history
2. hell 99
3. spit
4. barking
5. kentucky mcdonalds
6. looks like nothing
7. gratitude
8. dead internet
9. greyhound
10. hall of frozen heads

Yeah I would never be able to separate even Kentucky McDonalds from those two tracks. They make for such a killer trio

I have tried so many times but Looks Like Nothing just does not do it for me. It takes so long to get to the good stuff and that main vocal melody on the chorus is awful

Damn really? All the people I know irl that fuck with Foxing, that’s one of the few that we all absolutely love.

Feels like taking a bow at the curtain close to me
Such a huge payoff at the end, it's earned, and the finality is palpable

"that main vocal melody on the chorus is awful"
the melody is nothing to write home about but its the horrible vocal performance that really damages this one for me

Yeah the You Won’t Know comparison is spot on

Horrible and this album does not compute for me. Fatal error, I need to close my browser and re-open it in hopes that such an egregious accusation was only a figment of my imagination ;-)

as if dead cat isnt on this album lmao. worst song this band ever made

inoffensive melody / revoltingly off-key vocals (which isn't even something I traditionally gaf about, but jfc a line must be drawn) [2]
kinda curious to rejam this in like a month, after the thread has dried up and and the dust is dusty

I will never let the dust settle.
Just read the sterogum interview and it bums me out that they’re not big enough to just do this full time after all these years. I love these guys so much.

This absolutely grew, except Cleaning haha. That track can just go chill by itself.
