it is remarkable how similar their modern riffs sound to their 80s material when you hear them with the 80s guitar tones
almost makes me question if this same guitar tone they've been using on every album since load has kinda been holding them back? its not bad per se but it lacks the personality the more distinct/unique tones of the first five albums had

I've been saying that for years yeah. The new guitar tone is kinda generic/bland and sorta holds the songs back. When you hear the new songs and even hardwired with the 80s guitar tones it's instantly more enjoyable

The drum production on DM is far and away the biggest issue for me. Still sounds kinda shitty on this album but not nearly as bad as DM
