I wish mixing for "Dante" was a bit better. I listened to Discoveries today, and the production on the entirety of that album was way cleaner than the single.

i even think this sounds better than the new song. having putney work with them is moving backwards imo since them doing this alll on their own allowed them to really fully go crazy on the synths. the new song scales that back for the guitars to stand out more but the guitars dont do anything in the song lol

Yeah, Putney isn't the greatest with production. At least with Vein FM, it sounded natural and it fits with the atmosphere of This World is Going To Ruin You, but with Northlane is just a disaster.

God damn that is one of the best chorus' I've heard from them. One of my biggest complaints with Obsidian is some boring as all hell choruses (Echo Chamber). Hopefully the choruses keep up this level, cause I'm not opposed to the electronic sound they're leaning more and more into.

echo chamber is the worst song off the past 4 albums and its mere existence leaves me questioning all of the praise for marcus' singing (which even at its best is always secondary to the instrumentals)

the "praying i go deaf" line makes me think it's a deliberate choice to be as shrill and annoying as possible to fit the theme, but being bad intentionally is still being bad
