yeah i'm the weirdo that would say Vengeance Falls is their #1 on purely lyrical grounds even tho the music and production took a backseat

This is still quite fun. A Crisis Of Revelation is pure Ascendancy, and reportedly the next album will be in a similar vein. Not surprised with the "20 years of Ascendancy" tour coming up, but then again most metal bands tend to say their new record sounds like their old stuff or "our heaviest album since..." etc. Also I forgot how great the cover art is here.

Not the biggest fan of BFMV, but with the Poisoned Ascendancy tour coming up I hope they'll do a 'Screaming Shogun' or something tour in 2028 lol.
Where did you hear about the next album?

Checking in once again to make sure the 4 still persists on a Trivium record in the year of our lord and savior 2024.

I'm a fan of the anniversary tours. Being near 40 puts me in the demographic that enjoys when this era of bands do it lol

Surprised this still has a 4 on here tbh but I am really glad it does. It deserves it. Seeing these guys in February next year. I actually cannot wait even though Ascendancy isn't my favourite of theirs.

I still find it incredibly admirable that Trivium have produced much of their best work later in their career. Its bit of an anomaly within the metalcore spectrum. Love or hate them, at the very least they havent hashed out the same album year after year like so many of their peers. Im not saying they have produced anything mindblowing but god loves a trier.

Bumped to a 4. It's their best work and definitely Heafy's best vocal performance. 'Fall into Your Hands' is a fantastic song.

Love a good comeback story for a band. Also see: Cradle of Filth, Soilwork...

I need to give this a re-listen

They're an institution. Matt is awesome and I couldn't be happier for him.

Shogun was awesome and was the North Star for what metalcore in general could've/should've sounded like. Ascendancy was great as well.
Ever since Shogun, they've been hit or miss with only a handful of songs I can actually appreciate. I think Matt is too focused on riffing for the sake of riffing, which is ultimately pointless because it just equates to meandering guitar-wankery.
Not dismissing his, or the band's talent, but yeesh.

Matt should 100% channel some of the interesting flavors of metal he worked into Ibaraki in the next album

But what if the riffs are tasty
|
| |
These dudes can bring the riffs for sure but I agree some editing on some of the guitar-wankery could help. That's actually my biggest problem with a lot of their earlier stuff, just sort of feels like riff salads sometimes
