>Love the guitar "duetting" with the vox in You Shook Me and how goopy it all feels
Mawkish, even.

Mawkish 'n' Slimy perhaps.
Love... in the quicksand?
perhaps.

‘Imagine being in early high school in 1969 and this drops’
I think about this sort of stuff all the time.
My dad was 13yrs old and thought it was shite.
Me mates dad was 15 and it absolutely blew his mind. Still says that this and the White Album when released were the definitive mind blowers.

ha, it is funny chatting to the folks about such things - you mention The Beatles and they dismiss with effectively 'outside of some classic songs they were ubiquitous, quite annoying, sort of the 'for nerds' rock n' roll band compared to The Stones'.
it is great getting the context from those who lived through an era.
they were definitely 'team Zeppelin' ahead of Sabbath which tbh for the most part I agree with...I'm starting to agree on The Stones ahead of The Beatles too, but that opinion has taken me about twenty years to get to

Mum is Stones
Dad is Beatles
At the time they were very much both into soul and my mum a skinhead.
My mum says the greatest band of all time is ABBA.
Still better taste than 75% of sput.

Whenever I listen to this, I think that Led Zeppelin invented heavy metal.

my dad's top bands are/were probably: Stones, Clapton, Tom Petty, Floyd, Gary Moore, Zappa, Paul Weller solo, Everything Everything (lol, don't ask). He was still listening to some weird picks even recently (late career Anathema, Pendulum...!)
my mum's top bands would be something like: Bowie, Zeppelin, Stones, Psychedelic Furs, Roxy Music, Guns n Roses, Sex Pistols, Stranglers, INXS, Pearl Jam
My mum hates Zappa, Muse, Everything Everything and a lot of the blues stuff my dad plays, quite funny. Think my dad is too deaf to really bother with music now though, dark to say but I think that's the case.

You are so lucky to have parents you can talk to about rock and metal music.
In Greece, the situation in that regard is beyond abysmal, the cultural gap is light years wide.
Try to talk about '70s rock or '80s metal to a random cohort of native boomers, and they see you as a menace to society haha
