Welcome to the internet, we have nerds and they have abstract joys and toys they like to pit against each other like a coliseum to the death. We also have other nerds that coexist with the nerds but don't understand why they're nerding much harder, when they can be pragmatic with their nerd.

The underlying theme here (I read an article about this I'll have you know) is that people today are getting overwhelmed by powerlessness and and are forced to seek confirmation for their identity by 'winning' competitions, and in that process identifying friends and foes.
None of this is good, of course.

'when they can be pragmatic with their nerd.'
I like to go full balls-out nerd, that's the proper move here. I'm not ashamed of who I am.

your nerd-power is rigid actually, comes off like too much monster energy drink and lack of barbells

Is it possible to have a good, well balanced, diverse taste in music and not be a fucking nerd?

"...this decade’s defining death metal album."
Will take a listen soon, but I'll be gobsmacked if it's as good as Shrines of Paralysis.

Many death metal albums have defined this decade.
There's no need to find a winner.
Unless of course you are compensating for powerlessness.

This rules but I gotta say Starspawn beats it. Production is better there and there’s so many insane standout moments and alien riffs. It’s a bit more streamlined here but stills rips obviously m/

Opening track on this is superior to every song they made before this album, change my mind
