They are new songs that are "part of the Palms experience"

That sounds suspiciously like Palms b-sides...

It sounds exactly like b-sides but they made sure to point out that they are not b-sides lol. I assume they are songs that they enjoyed enough to have put on the album, but simply didn't. Although some of these songs were considered good enough to make it on here, so that gives me zero faith in the tracks that didn't make it. We shall see though!

Sometimes, the b-sides from an album are better than songs from the album, so maybe these are all great!

One of his two is fair, at least... how this could sit above Artist is beyond me

Yes and no. There are different types of b-sides and I’m assuming these are the “we have too much material for one release” kind, as opposed to weaker tracks or tracks that don’t fit the vibe

"So did anyone pick up this ep? Thoughts on it?"

Based on one listen through the EP:

-Deeper Wells is a straight three-chord hardcore track. Screaming from Dustin and some bland riffs, but the last 50 seconds are pretty cool.

-A Better Bridge sounds like a mixture between Beggars and Air, which is a huge positive in my eyes. Some pretty melodies and nice chimey overdriven riffs.

-In This Storm also sounds like Air with a bit of Palms mixed in. The end gets heavier but not in a satisfying way.

-Stumbling West starts a little rough but that bass. Oh yeah, baby, dat bass. This might be my favorite track.

All in all, these songs should have replaced the shittier tracks on Palms and I'm absolutely baffled by their exclusion in favor of pure trash. A solid EP that isn't better than the best tracks on their last two records, but it does restore my faith in the band a bit.
