I want ease of listen goddamn it i have to loom down at my ipod in the car to switch to eve that's dangerous. This is a matter of legitimate life and death

so make a playlist and stick it at the end?
It isn't part of the album so why are you trying to include it in there

Anyone would think Eve was a top 10 ‘Verge song or something (hint: it isn’t & probably wouldn’t fit on here anyway).

Yeah, 3.5 is about right. Sad, but true.

It’s easy to name 10 Converge songs better than Eve without thinking, don’t make me do it for the 2nd time (think I already did it on the Pain ‘EP’ thread).

Man I tried to make a list of 10 songs and stopped when I realized ALL of Jane Doe was better than Eve.

Jane is too different to Eve to compare. I judge Eve on its own merits and it's a well crafted, atmospheric and emotional track that makes me feel things. Therefore it's good.

just stick Eve at the end of the album and be done with it

Eve is good, but overrated

Yeah it doesn’t work as a closer at all.
|
| |
It works fine as a closer to me
As for Eve, I think it works if you put it in the place of Dusk, and put Dusk as the opener.

Dusk would be a weird opener, a Converge album should start with a bang, not a slower piece.
|
| |
I’m jamming it now and I think it makes a great opener, and it leads into A Single Tear really well
|
| |
I’m well aware of that but I just think it makes the album flow in an interesting way for a Converge album and allows Eve to fit in nicely. I don’t really need Converge to have an explosive opener if I like the way it flows.
I probably won’t listen to it that way much but it’s a nice change-up

The music feels like YFM-era Converge but the production feels like JD-era Converge
I wish everything sounded thicker and more "punchy" than it does. Sounds too thin and airy for what the music is doing imo

Murk and Marrow is the best song here though.

I thought it might've been dynamic range being too high, but no it's a 6 according to dynamic range database (http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=converge&album=), so yeah something about the production is missing chunkiness and impact. I still think it sounds great though, at least it's pretty clean by Converge's standards.
So, my opinion on the album. I like it but it isn't as emotionally engaging as most of their other albums. It still continues a lot of their tried and true styles, which is great. Something about AWLWLB gives me a really depressing vibe that makes it hard for me to revisit, so I'm happy this one is more neutral and didn't continue on that vein. It's less restrained, almost like No Heroes, but more coherent. I still put Axe to Fall and Jane Doe far ahead but The Dusk in Us still pretty good.

I like the transparance of it. AWL, great as it sounds, could be a bit too dense at times.

The production is quite ‘thin’ now you mention it, don’t think it massively impacts my enjoyment mind.
