i personally find this album a masterpiece in a genre that's, in my opinion, over-saturated and pretty homogeneous.
but this was honestly the first funeral doom album i've ever listened to and it immediately clicked. everything else since has just been chasing the white dragon

not enough to where I'm like oh fuck yeah. But again, I have such high regards for this album (easily a top 5 all time for me) that it sorta spoils the rest of the genre. i think the only bands to have come close are Disembowelment and Ahab

This is a 1hour and half track. Not for everyone. There s a lot of other funeral doom/ deathdoom acts that can engage other type of listeners (esoteric is fuckin immense), including other Bell Witch releases.

I have no stakes in the funeral doom debate but this is wonderfully hypnotic. I adore the second half of this. Its certainly something that you have to be in the mood to listen to.
