Strobelite and Hallelujah Money are great, why would someone criticize either of those when so many of the others on here have the problems.
|

Super Deluxe edition sounds so stupid and is an obvious cash grab but it's more Gorillaz so I didn't really give a fuck. Also to be fair Damon has said they don't make back the money they spend on this project.

'What's the consensus on the failings of "Hallelujah Money"? Definitely one of the stronger tracks.'
I'm fine with it but I think the general problem everyone has with it is that the tone of it just doesn't work that well

the tone is perfect space-y "closing track" material.

Clementine's delivery over that particular musical backdrop is cartoony even by their standards
throw in the spongebob shit going on towards the end and it practically plays like comic relief

also, singling out Strobelite is fucking baffling

there was a spongebob sample at one point?

I would also like to point out that Ascension samples the "Oh yeah, Mr Krabs" meme

I'm not talking about the "actual sample" Clementine starts doin some Tiny Tim shit at the end which is the whole reason they put in a literal SpongeBob reference to the video anyway
the part in Acension is just awesome, tbh

"I would also like to point out that Ascension samples the "Oh yeah, Mr Krabs" meme"
no, I doesn't, they're two completely different pitches. I'm pretty sure the scream is Albarn.
|

he does it live so it's not that much of a stretch lol

I've honestly come to love almost all of this, except for busted and blue. Everyone's kicking off over how great it is but i think it's one of their weakest tracks to date
|
| |
how is this compared to Demon Days?

All of their albums are pretty different from each other. This is the most hip-hop sounding one with more guest singers than Albarn/2D.
