"kendrick deserves at least 75% of the praise he gets,"

yes, agreed, just not 100% of it lmao

" only hip hop that I really like better than kdot is madvillain tbh"

i like a tonne better than kdot out of subjectivity, mostly old stuff, but again, im here admitting to his strengths anyways

like I know a friend of mine who was pissed just cuz I suggested that the heart pt. 4 and humble weren't that great, like they believe he is incapable of releasing stale music
I mean I like Kenny ALOT but that kind of attitude just feeds an artists ego and leads to shittier music in the future

i'm sure he knows better and that he doesn't need to prove shit anymore, but the people that assume and defend bullshit make the narrative that's he's not really involved in.

I used to get really annoyed when someone would praise Kendrick as being the best thing to happen to music but I do agree he is one of the main artists in today's scene that makes modern hiphop more interesting while still keeping it hiphop.

I got into Kendrick in 2011 via Keisha's Song and I jammed a little bit of Section and OD but then the hype for GKMC turned me off, only recently I got back into that record and realized how fun it is

nah I wasn't hating it, just dismissed it as "it's cool but not THAT cool". I've always appreciated him

Like I've said before, butterfly is bogged down by overproduction. Every song starts to sound so samey after a whIle and it's too long for its own good. It has some of his best material and it's fantastic as a concept album, but there are way too many throwaway tracks imo
