I actually get a tight chest from listening to this. I have to listen to something upbeat and fun afterward. Its kind of a scary/dangerous album. I feel like all you would have to do is listen to it once a day and you would spiral into a crippling depression. Its not an album to be taken lightly and i certainly dont fuck with it often.

'listen to it once a day and you would spiral into a crippling depression'
This is why I rarely listen to Deathconciousness

Aw man, I'm so envious, but also not, like, if he's playing stuff from this it's going to be a real rough time

Sounds like a very unhappy time in prospect if he only plays songs from this :D

Just got out of seeing Phil perform. These songs were absolutely hypnotizing to hear live. My neck hurts from staring up at him and not moving from that position for an hour and a half. He also played five or six new ones.
In one of the new ones, while he's describing a night where he lays out on the hillside by the chair that he left for Genevieve in "Seaweed," he says "I hear wolves in the throne room say 'I will lay my bones down along the rocks and roots,'" which is pretty cool.

i haven't heard this since the month it came out.
i don't really intend to hear it again soon
|
| |
im interested to hear how this album works live
part of the magic of this album is the intimacy of it, so it'll be neat to see how it works in a larger setting

I wonder if he'll ever play old songs live again. I feel like he's hinting at the answer being no. In Tin Tin in Tibet (one of the new ones), he says, "I sing to you Genevieve. You don't exist, but I sing to you." I don't think he wants to sing about anybody or anything else anymore.

theres no right time, man. listen when youre down and itll bring you deeper. listen when youve been feeling good and youll wish you didnt listen. in fact, nobody should probably be listening to this, ever.

So I saw him live and it was really incredible. im hoping the new songs get recorded as they are because they are almost hypnotizing

Did he sing the one about being in a tour bus with Skrillex and Father John Misty?
|
| |
yeah that was great
he said it was a surprisingly jovial show for him - there was one moment where he started one of the new songs by singing the wrong notes. so he stopped and then said "what if i played it like a supermarket jingle or something?" and played this super upbeat commercial-esque bit which was funny
