The thing is, I'd hate writing a positive review for this album, it'd be dull. A negative review...that would be a lot of fun because the lyrics are very easy to laugh at now we're three albums in. A big RtJ bingo session.
That's what they're up against on this site, everyone's inner comedian is itching to call foul on them. It's more fun to hate on this band than like them in 2017. The thing is though, they're a slick operation and the quality is indisputable imo

"Honestly, if this was their first release people would be creaming themselves. This is a faaaaaar superior album to RtJ1 esp in terms of production. It might be a little too much of a continuation of RtJ2 but I think it's more consistent and a smoother ride. Production is great for me, tracks like Ticketron and Thieves really impress me in that regard."
Ppl are creaming themselves. It's getting positive reviews across the board and high ratings on sputnik. Production is a bit more refined than on RTJ1, but lacks the energy imo.

My theory is because this band sit right between hip hop and rock in terms of appeal people are selective in how they apply the rules of hip hop and the rules of rock. Hip hop is forgiving in terms of running a band like a business and often trying to keep 'at a level' rather than innovate too much while heavy rock crowd is more forgiving of dumb lyrics (see RATM) and sometimes lacking subtlety.
Think they get walloped from both sides when really they're doing exactly what they should be doing considering they're meant to be 'the rap act to appeal to an indie/rock crowd'. Some people by definition will hate what they intrinsically are.

Chuck I more mean that 'they've delivered the product they're supposed to and it doesn't have any obvious faults' hence its getting a generally good reception from 'their fan base at large' and critics who've saddled up to them, etc. (Yes, there is something business like about the whole operation, I'm acknowledging that).
In terms of that 'quality seal' it delivers. Of course that quality could mean f all to anyone else not already on board.

when things get really popular, as this group has, people will find any reason to not like them, even though the real reason is lack of exclusivity
that's not to say that there aren't a lot of people that just plain think they aren't good, obviously
