Nah I like a lot of folk and indie folk but nothing as stale and uneventful as this. Gimme some energy and some melodies, damn

Nah this is great! I saw her perform most of these songs in a small bar venue and it was transcendent tbh

I could see it working a bit better in a live setting

They're great on the record too. Just fantastic production. The music is pretty patient though.

I don't think he's aware of the correlation between patience and this (most) type of music

I don’t think you’re aware of what patience means

"the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset"
I italicized delay cause not all music is immediate gratification.

it's tru he gets angry too quick

Album Rating: 2.5
Patience means being content waiting for something to happen. Nothing ever happens in this album, it's not like the first half is a buildup to an enthralling, epic second half. It's all pretty homogenous. Simply enjoying slower music is not indicative of patience

Why don’t you just pay attention to what’s there? She’s play this great guitar parts and her voice is fucking beautiful lol

Album Rating: 2.5
I mean, just because I don't like it doesn't mean I didn't pay attention lol. I don't find the guitar playing impressive at all to be honest (it's very standard), and yeah her voice is nice but that means nothing if the songwriting does nothing for me. The girls I know from high school who upload short ukulele songs on their instagrams have nice voices too

Pretty tall horse for a dude who uploads mexican guitar noodles to his instagram

u already said they were muy habanero no take backsies. and I'm not even saying the guitar parts here are bad but it feels to me like they were meant to sort of blend into the background and facilitate Julien's voice and the emotional lyrics and what not, which is fine but makes it uninteresting for me

you don't have to be Ana Vidovic to not be blown away by the guitar here
|

Album Rating: 4.0
I’m obviously not BLOWN AWAY by it but it plays it straight in a good way. Like a good drummer in the pocket. They’re simple but subtly musical and feed the song. Great guitar parts just have to sound good, regardless of technicality.

yes I agree I just think it's weird to single out the guitar playing in particular on an album like this
|
| |
I mean what else is there to single out lawl

the album is built around Julien's voice, melodies and lyrics imo
