I don't like the woman's vocal style at all. Kills the song for me. Only track I skip.

^same, it's like a disney song
don't know why everyone is jizzing over it

just has no place in a nick cave song whatsoever, it's boring and it sounds wrong

The female voice is more interesting than your generic female-guest-vocal-for-its-own-sake imo

Yeah, she adds a brilliant counterpoint to Cave's restraint on the track, winds up feeling simultaneously funereal but isolated and reflective

Why are you implying that I implied that he hasn't worked with female singers in the past or that it doesn't work? I just said this particular track is dogshit.

Yes, I was speaking about this particular performance not female vocals in general, and in fact when I said "song" I meant to say "album".
Also, honestly the duets with females aren't his highlights to begin with, the best presence of female vocals on nick cave's song are the backing vocals in NMSWP and AB/tLoO, his two best albums in my opinion.

I wipe my ass with songs like henry lee and where the wild roses grow.

Yeah, it's definitely not generic, but I didn't like it at all. Her tone and singing style just had me wondering what the fuck just happened to a song that was going so well. So, I can see where the love for it comes from, but it ended for me after a few of her lines and she just keeps going.

I'm not a staunch supporter of their inclusion or anything, I just think they're fine. Never found them detrimental, though. I think they work as well with Cave's vocal as any other vocal could.

I find that the female vox fit perfectly in that song, makes a nice contrast to Nick and sets the song apart somewhat from those around it
