I'm not asking you to explain, I just can't believe how stupid that is lol

i think this is what happens when 17 year olds listen to agalloch and burzum and all of a sudden have an opinion on black metal

first off, i never called myself a BM fan, i just like a few bands (mostly entry level FORGIVE ME)
second, i just find this to be a chore to get through; too much repetition like ford said and the guitars are just too high in the mix. i havent jammed this in a few years though so
I've heard a lot of bm, and this has the best production
best as in most fitting or best as in best quality
if its the latter then surely you jest

Okay mr condescending over the internet. I'll just have to force myself to love stuff like Darkthrone or Burzum or w/e to gain your mighty status as a trve BM fan.

Best as in proved by a Harvard study
|

that comment wasnt directed at you despite the quote
the sole fact that any of you are talking about how the production detracts from the record, let alone talking about the production at all, leads me to criticise you and disregard anything you say about this album or any other bm album

Well can I like this and still ask the question about the production I asked last page?
|
| |
stop it rasputin I'm getting upset
|

I prefer melody and atmosphere that comes more from acoustics or keys or whatever, which is why I'd much rather listen to Melodic BM like Vinterland, Folk Black like Moonsorrow or Atmospheric like Agalloch. It's just a matter of taste, I don't see why you have to act all high and mighty because you like Darkthrone's style and I don't.
|
| |
vinterland moonsorrow and agalloch are fucking awful and have nothing to do with black metal
|
| |
"Vinterland has nothing to do with black metal"
What? I think you've lost all your credibility right there..
|

yes
i dunno about your copy but yes this doesnt have 'clean' production, but thats like criticising a death metal album for having riffs
|

uhh no I didn't?

"Vinterland has nothing to do with Black Metal"
I think this is honestly the craziest thing I've ever heard.

w0w moonsorrow rocks but yeah not black metal.
anyways, i dont think having the shittiest recording sound ever really adds much to the atmosphere. if anything it kinda kills it IMO. take under a funeral moon for example: it's lofi, but it still has an open, "airy" kinda sound to it with the way the guitars are lowered a bit in the mix. it gives you room to breathe but still feels like youre trapped in a dark, cold forest.
I know ive referenced that one a lot now (i swear i listen to other BM) but its just my favourite so

yer man is so crazy!
