I can see where your coming from, Mercury, but I actually feel the exact opposite. I think the "ballsiness" feels incredibly fake and contrived, like "ooh, I'm so artsy and avant garde, even though my last album had me straddling a huge wrecking ball naked and using hip hop in the most cliched ways possible." Perhaps if she had more artistic merit to begin with, I could believe it more. Like when Nirvana went from Nevermind to In Utero or when Ulver abandoned black metal from Marriage of Heaven and Hell onward. But ironically, I actually enjoy the execution of this more than what I perceive to be its intent. Its aesthetic is the aspect I absolutely hate about it, tbh

Completely see where you're at man, I guess I just never got this as a crass attempt at being artsy, it just came across to me as not giving much of a fuck, and having Wayne on board helped a fair bit - dude's just done what he wants for years, with equally mixed results.

Sadly, I'm not sure if I'm gonna enjoy any musical direction Miley ever goes in anymore. Maybe I'm just being closed-minded or too harsh with this, but I feel like her reputation and image she's already set herself up with has completely ruined and sunk my thoughts of her permanently. No matter what direction she goes in, I feel like I'm always gonna see it as dishonest or not done with good intentions. But who knows, maybe she'll make something that really blows me away at some point and prove me wrong... we'll see, I guess
