My friend gave me a stack of CDs in junior year of high school. This, In Sorta Diaboli, and Rise of the Tyrant were in it. Having never heard metal, I obv I went for the easy ones first.

This was my first black metal album. I asked it for my birthday when I was like 14 or 15 maybe. I didn't know what I was getting myself into and was very confused by the lo-fi production, and the overall weirdness of the discordant melodies, but after several listens it just clicked. This album was a gateway for me into the world of black metal.

I can't even remember which version of this I've heard & which I'm yet to hear anymore... either way some of this sounds amazing & other parts hurt my ears, seem to have a frequency issue with certain records. I know there's something special here, just need to remember which is the optimal version, or which is the one I haven't heard (if any, I forget). Oh man...
