"As of right this very moment, Piss Crowns is my favourite Godspeed track. Yep."
Agreed. One of the most beautiful songs ever

‘From the depths of unsullied innocence, the band find the sweet token of creativity that most seem to miss or forget, floating sullenly in a void of wasted invention, imagination and a deep pool of potential just waiting to be plucked by those who are willing to look. You've heard it all before and don?t care to hear it again, the mindless ranting and raving of how old and stale a movement can become, what once shook bone and bent earth soon becomes a dreary and mindless meandering. At a time when it all seems lost, where the good, the great and the mighty are now far and few in between, the inertia is broken as Godspeed You! Black Emperor grants the engrossing and full spectrum of colour. Not for a long while has such an album immediately taken hold of me, such alluring orchestrations hypnotising me from start to finish. Quite honestly an album that leaves one in awe at its majesty, Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress is impressive to say the least, and speaks wonders of where the band is to head next. Let yourself go and delve into the psychedelic wonders of this record, sink into its atmospheres and be ensnared by its odd divination.‘
2.7/5.

(^ although the rating probably is accurate).
This has to be the weakest God’s pee release. It’s a hell of a lot of meandering and wholly unsatisfying build-up for an (admittedly) half-decent climax. I’m not sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

The first comment is just a rather confusing sound-off by the way, hence the quotation marks.

Piss Crowns is good but falls short of being a top-tier Godspeed track. The rest just isn’t worth putting yourself through to get there.
Luciferian was a bounce back of sorts. It doesn’t all hit home but I prefer the dronier parts of that one.

Piss Crowns the goat

'Piss crowns' is phenomenal agreed, but I think 'Peasantry' is massive as well. The melodies are huge and the drone is really effective I think. The way it explodes I'm after that drum intro gets me every time.

can't believe how underrated Yanqui U.X.O. is on this site, such a phenomenal record. Amazing sense of tension and release, and the melodies are wonderful.

People think this is all about Piss Crowns (what is it with this band and urine lately?), but Peasantry is epic as well.

I'd honestly rather listen to Peasantry as a standalone. I think it was the last interesting track Godspeed have made tbh, took me a while but I kinda love that weave of overdrive and trad Jewish melodies. epic song

I enjoyed the ambient sections here at first but they've worn off me pretty hard over time. Album would be a 5 as just Peasantry --> Piss Crowns, which go together great and make neither a standalone IMO.

I wasn't a big fan of their latest releases, they were a bit of a snoozefest tbh, so I wasn't looking forward to this, but seems like I should check this one.

Oh thats not the new one, I'll show myself out lol

Any nitpicking of what tracks people like and dislike from this is cringe. It was literally written as one song that they probably had to divide into separate tracks for the sake of it being considered an album. Whole thing flows perfectly from start to finish.
