Insurgentes is kinda lo-fi in some places, does that make sense?

Yes, even if I can't put my finger on it, I feel this statement is correct

How though? It has great production.

not black-metal lo-fi, more on the ''wall of sound'', experimental kind of lo-fi.
No Twilight... is an example of what I'm talking about

There are those noisy sections that aren't found in any of his other albums, like that minute in Abandoner, last two minutes of Get What You Deserve, and the end of Salvaging, but that's all of that there is. I'd say the rest is mainly weird progressive/experimental rock and ambient music. No Twilight is just an amazing prog song, like what King Crimson might sound like if they made their '70s albums in this decade.

Agreed. Speaking of KC, I still don't know where my attention should be on Discipline, because I seriously don't get the hype

I have the same problem with Lizard. My least fave KC of the ones I've heard.

On the contrary, I love their outsider album Islands. Really don't know why people scorn it

Discipline and Lizard are both fantastic, my 3rd and 4th favorite KC albums after Red and Larks' Tongues.

Yes, but.... why? That's my question. What makes them great for you?

Wait, in the court isn't in your top 4? I am confused now.

Why do I love Discipline is your question? It's an amazing new wave/prog rock fusion album with mind-blowing dual guitar work by Fripp and Adrian Belew. There's lots of personality to each song, amazing singing (except Elephant Talk, wish that one was an instrumental) and wonderful instrumentals too. The Sheltering Sky is one of my favs. Frame by Frame and Matte Kudasai are both in my top 5 favorite KC songs probably.
Let me clarify my ranking: Red>Larks' Tongues>Discipline>ITCotKC=Lizard>Islands>ItWoP>S&BB>Radical Action (live album with some new songs)=Live in Chicago (the tour I saw them on, amazing performance and some new songs)Beat>3oaPP>Thrak>TPtB>TCoL

@TalonsOfFire Oh, I must have missed on your answer. Thanks, I'll try to approach the album again with those details in mind and see if anything clicks.
