Its the groooovy combination of the rhythm section. If it had been more varied then it would have been really great

Snide do you jam Opeth a lot? If so what's your favorite of theirs?

I still don't find any of the songs boring even after having heard it 20+ times and missing their old style.

"This album bored me... quite a bit."

Same here. It's not a bad album, but it's just seriously lacking in dynamics and creativity. Albums like Ghost Reveries destroy this.

Well of course albums like GR and MAYH and BWP are on another level from this

Yeah I only mentioned GR because you asked Snide what his favorite Opeth was. GR is my favorite with Still Life in a close 2nd.

"Exactly, there was just no imagination put into this imo. It just went through the motions."

Agreed, I like the idea of them going into a more prog rock direction, but I don't feel any excitement listening to this.

I still have *yet* to get into this and Ghost Reveries, damn it. Hopefully that can be remedied.

My favorites would probably be Blackwater Park, Still Life, and Ghost Reveries/My Arms, Your Hearse

We all seem to have almost identical favorites of theirs, if you weren't crazy about this then what did you think of

Heritage?

Heritage might be slightly better than this, it sounds more inspired and unpredictable while this seems to be trying to cater to fans by forcing the heaviness at times.

It's been a little while since I've listened to Heritage in full, so I might go back and jam it soon. Heritage was a 3 for me, so I enjoyed it more than this. I still feel they didn't quite reach their full potential on it though.

Agreed Snide.

Yeah now that the hype for PC has died down almost everyone seems to prefer Heritage now. I mean this album's average has gone down half a whole point since it's leak...

I think it started at a 4.2 when people started rating the leak, granted that wasn't a ton of votes but it gradually went down from a 4 down to what it is now so it grew off people pretty significantly. It did for me too, this started at a 4.4 for me and now it's probably a 3.75
