haven't listened to this is 6 months.
similar to reflektor, this is an example of a bands ambition exceeding their ability. just as reflektor should have trimmed the fat down to 9 songs, a good 5 tracks could be shaved off this without compromising the end product.

i often take one or two months to give it a thorough listen, so i agree. had it been shorter, it'd be more accessible. however, this is their gem for me, everytime i spin it, i'm completely absorbed.

Haven't heard this in eons, but I distinctly remember enjoying the title track and City with no Children, and a couple others. Most of the tracks were p. boring/pretentious though

They're phenomenal live dude. Wih has a massive stage presence.
Um they played keep the car running, ocean of noise, no cars go and a subdued reworking of my body is a cage (with win walking through the crowd) when I saw em so I guess I got lucky.

I saw them live last April. And holy crap, it was beyond anything I expected. The Reflektor tour is incredible, and they even played Laika. For Laika it was tour debut, and they played it in response to the fans that kinda made an entire campaign or something. I think what makes them so great live is that they behave like an actual band, and like an actual band, all of the members interact with the audience in the show, it's amazing (I'll never forget when after closing with Wake Up they came back yet again for a drums-driven only outro of Wake Up, Regine and Win were crying, damn if that wasn't beautiful).
