Isn't hipster music everything that has ever been reviewed on Pitchfork, positively or otherwise? Burial fits that definition.

Any study I've coincidentally come across linking music to "hipster" culture is pretty ill-informed

tbh i dont like any burial release. its so emotionally overwrought in the tackiest way possible like "lets bang you over the head with feels" for every single track.

and i dont really dig the production very much either his reliance on vocal samples and stock sounds dont really strike me as all that inventive.

The overuse of vocal samples can be pretty irksome, I feel like a lot of his songs would be much better of without them, or if they just had them in a more minimal capacity.

tbh i only like vocal samples when theyre so warped they dont sound like vocals anymore or if theyre like spoken word samples from a movie or something

vocal samples are actually one of the first things that will set me off an album, i can only think of a few cases where i like them.

idk, the way he warps the vocal samples in an androgynous way to create his own melodies works beautifully to me. Pretty much think this is as perfect and inventive as it gets

A lot of the songs here are the right length, but I still wished it had more variation
