re: Reason for Negging
ok let's seeeeee...
The Technicalities: Your comma use isn't very good. Consider the following- "if not, better than." You shouldn't have a comma there. There's a ton of awkward phrases like "are given much attention to as he sings them," or the weird opener where you keep referring to "it" but never actually introduce "it" (aka the purpose of an intro). This bad habit stays steady throughout, and it is often unclear because you refer to "it" so often. "Creating not only a backbone for the whole song, but also setting the pace, rather than having the riffs leading the song." This isn't a sentence.
Feeling the Overstatement: One of the biggest problems with your review is the large generalizations you continually make.
"the aforementioned and definitive album that everyone holds so dear to their hearts."
dumb.
"The main vessel of emotion in any band is the vocalist. Not only is the voice the best way to convey emotions, in most cases,"
dumber.
"whether we can figure it out or not, it does not matter much."
dumb.
... yeah, things like that.
Feeling the Personalization: Throughout the review you refer to yourself to much. This is definitely ok in some cases, but generally you want to stay far away from the first person unless it actually adds something significant to the review, which your use of it here does not.
More Dirt on the Already-Dirty Rock: While I applaud you for trying something new in regards to the structure, it doesn't work all that well here. The headings are a bit cheesy and unnecessary; especially for a review of this length, you should concentrate more on the flow instead of breaking it up... it basically becomes similar to a track-by-track, in concept.
Closure: Sorry, I'm sure I was a tad tough on you, one of the main reasons I neg'd, to be honest, was because the first thing I saw was a sentence fragment and the 14/14 pos then I read it and was like whaaaaaat?! Anyway, it could definitely use some work. Take these criticisms lightly though... I was just having some fun with the structure mostly haha, just pay attention to these things in the future if you can, I would say.
