I agree with Ars on that, even though Paranoid is my favorite Sabbath album, I've always prefered their more experimental side, maybe I like the more varied sound, of ocurse I still love their doomy riffs though

Neither of you two are into doom or other extreme forms of metal so I get why you wouldnt like that side as much.

"Every one of their first 6 is different and thats what makes them such an amazing band."
Agreed.
"I've always prefered their more experimental side"
That's a lot of my taste in general honestly.
"of ocurse I still love their doomy riffs though"
Me too, I just don't automatically regard them as the best.
Though to be honest, doesn't "Electric Funeral" have almost exactly the same premise as "Into the Void", but with an even more epic bass part?

Electric Funeral's riff is better than any riff in Into the Void for me

Its close, but nothing touches Into the Void's intro, and the bass behind is better

Electric funeral's riff is a moment in time

I guess I'm kinda in the middle, given that I highly regard both their doomy and experimental sides. But yes, given that I dig thrash and death metal, that can explain some things.
In fact, it was the fact that I discovered how heavy for their time Sabbath were that got me into them. Hearing MoR with that perspective (I wasn't big on Ozzy Era Sabbath before that), everything changed. They thus switched from being my least fave to being my 2nd fave of the Unholy Trinity.

"But yes, given that I dig thrash and death metal, that can explain some things."
I know this is going to make me sound close minded, but I can't really stand either of those genres for the most part.
I got into Sabbath because I listened to Sabotage and was taken back by how diverse well constructed it was. The fact that the second half of "Symptom" reminded me of Zeppelin helped a lot too.

I love the experimental side almost as much, dont get me wrong. But MoR and Paranoid will always be their two
best for me. They're the albums that got me into Sabbath. Then I discovered this and Sabotage and
saw how they could experiment with a different style just as well. Best band ever confirmed.

Nero, would it be a good idea for Ars to try Priest or Maiden?
I've my doubts ofc...

Metallica and Megadeth are the only thrash acts I dig, cause it is pretty easy to get into them, but for the rest of the genre, it is just too repetitive for me, specially death metal, sorry guys

"But MoR and Paranoid will always be their two best for me."
They have their own experiments too. Like "Planet Caravan" and "Solitude". Both amazing tracks.

Agreed. They were never afraid to take risks right from the off

It did take time for me to get into dm, as it isn't an easy genre. But I've been into thrash for quite some time now.

"Nero, would it be a good idea for Ars to try Priest or Maiden?"
Bruce Dickinson's vocals are kind of bad in my opinion...
Honestly, I'm kind of going for more weird shit currently. Butthole Surfers is probably the next
new band I'll check out.

Yeah, I'll check Sad Wings of Destiny if you really think I'd like it.

Sad Wings is such a classic, so different from the dull Painkiller era Priest for me

Theres some Sabbathesque vibes on it. Dreamer Deceiver always reminds me of Planet Caravan's atmosphere.
