Having no knowledge of the band at the time, i thought the front cover was the coolest thing i'd ever seen at the age of 12./13 & was the reason I bought it. Then I took it home and played it. Whoa! what IS this??!! Highway Star fucking tore my head off (all these years later it still does). Being Australian, i was aware and a fan of AC/DC, but this was the album that opened the door to the wonderful world of noise that is heavy/hard rock, exposing me to bands like Sabbath, Zep, Heep, and the bands of "my" generation: Priest, Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, etc.
Machine Head holds a very special place in my heart.
