love its role in the tracklisting too-perfectly nestled between two relatively tame songs

I love a magician is kinda eh, that like chromatic guitar pattern was never gonna vie with the ingenuity of most of the rest. That song could have been on a lot of albums

that chromatic guitar pattern is the perfect dumb antidote to the cloying aura of went to college obsequiousness that hardcaps this record from being much more than Pretty Great as a whole. most of the other outwardly neurotic tracks would have benefitted from going off like that

idk the crazy rhythm section kinda makes up for it

this also + vocal pattern over that riff is distinctive against everything else here and extremely infectious

back and forth and spider in the snow feel like lowlights because they’re tame, or at least they’re both. Rest is nigh on perfect balance tho
