tbh besides the obvious classic that Wouldn't it be Nice is, I think all the other songs are just standard psychedelic pop tunes that can't compete with Forever Changes or Oddisey and Oracle, hell, as I said some time ago I even think Bee Gees 1st has more classic moments on it (like To Love Somebody or New York Mining Disaster)

I don't see how coming out a couple of years before makes any difference on that, it's not like this created the subgenre

No but it pretty much legitimized it.

That may be true, but the albums of the genre that came out later are the ones that made of it something remarkable imo. When I listen to this I notice good songs but that aren't that interesting vocally, lyrically or instrumentally (even though instrumentation isn't that important in these kind of albums) when you compare them to the other classics of this style.

I still think that I may be missing something here; I never stop giving chances to an album that doesn't click on me and that it is considered a classic by most people

With Odessy and Oracle because I'm not a big fan of "Time of the Season", it just sounds boring compared to the rest of the album imo

I love Time of the Season, that bassline and those keys... probably the first song I think of when I think of the 60's

The first song by a british band that would come up to my mind would be House of the Rising Sun (I know it is a folk classic but it is The Animals's version the one that we all love)

Mono version of Sunshine of your Love for me as far as 60s tunes are concerned.

Hey, I said there may be something I'm missing in here

I won't deny its classic status on popular music though, I think it is one of those cases where you get why people love it so much but it's just not your style

Most people here might enjoy the instrumentation in this but I doubt anyone could say your argument makes any sense

more instruments =/= better instrumentation
