There are pop punk bands that are not popular.

I stand by my previous statement.

just really annoying to me. play your music but keep your mouth shut about everythng else and let your music do the speaking!!!

-_-

Music is a form of expression. You could say the same about bands that sing about love, heartbreak, being happy, having friends, etc. Politics are important to them, so they sing about it. American Idiot is pushing it to a degree, especially with the excessive and idiotic title track, but even without the political image the album is fairly boring and doesn't get much play with me. Their political image has nothing to do with it, and kudos to them for trying to make it slightly epic.

That being said, I usually like it when hip-hop groups dabble with politics. I find it more eloquent.

I think that the reviewer is a moron for saying that they jumped on the bandwagon "like blink 182 and went all political". Are you fucking serious? blink-182 has no political songs whatsoever. the closest they get to political is songs about divorce. blink 182 took a step in a different direction with the last album, but a more serious and musically intruiging way...NOT a political way. You want to hear political? listen to anti-flag.

Easy Tom...

Add another layer of delay to that guitar line and just chill the hell out.

"i have to agree with the guy that says there getting political

i disliek any bnads that use politics to forward there careers

like...

system of the down"

ahmm

trust me, system of a down has more political cred than green day. at least they are active in what the believe in.

axis of justice anyone? maybe the SOULS concert that raises money towards recognising the armenian genocide?

I'm curious. What proof do you have that the possibility of them playing this particular style of music for anything other than pure greed is out of the question? What proof do you have that they are (what I have a feeling you want to call them) sell-outs? What proof do you have that irrefutably shows their complete lack of artistic integrity?

Indulge me.

This album bored me. Very much. I also do not understand what people have against being political in music. Plenty of bands have done it before, it's not like Green Day are the first. The majority of punk bands have made songs about political issues. However, that doesn't detract from my first point: I do not like this album.

actually, a lot of us judge music on the music itself. That's why this album sucks. Sorry

despite how incredibly over rated and iverplayed, the album is epic and is a defining album of 2004, whether what you think of the album.

I never understood the backlash against this album. High school kids love to call them "Sell-outs" for releasing this album. Sorry guys, if Green Day ever sold out, it's when they signed to a major label over a decade ago.
