Idk, I don't think it's fair to call it filler, just because it doesn't have traditional instrumentation or instrumentation at all doesn't mean it's not music. It's inseparable from the "song" parts I think. Makes the album so much more immersive. Pretty much the ambient sections coupled with the amazing prog-wank and songwriting make this my favorite Volta.

I was fortunate enough to see them on their Frances tour, opening for System. Watched the Volta in awe, skipped out after so as to not have to sit through SOAD. Their faggot fans were ripping on TMV the entire time. It was making me furious. Setlist was Cygnus, L'via, The Widow and Drunkship (awesome 30 minute jammed out Drunkship). Saw them again in 2008 on their Bedlam tour. They played for over two hours. Best show I've ever been to.

Dude, if you ever have the chance to see them live - fucking do it. They floored me both times I saw them. That Bedlam show was just out of this world. They played so many good songs.

From bootlegs I've heard, Cedric sounds generally awful on songs from this and Deloused, and awesome on everything post-Amputechture.
