pseudo-technical approach
This pisses me off too. Every single song is a drop B, minor, breakdown/sweepfest. And not good breakdowns or sweeps. The lyrics are terrible too, but you can't really understand them.

This album isn't bad, but it's definitely not melodeath. Melodeath doesn't have one-note breakdowns.

Too much studio engineering? hahaha, are you serious? It's kind of sloppy and Oli's lows are turned up in volume.

I think the point he's trying to make is that they're still not as good as they sound on this album.

He DID have trouble projecting his lows back when this was recorded. I remember this from the first time I've seen them, however, he's gotten a lot better with the projection since, and the band is far tighter now.
The point is they could write this music at the time, and on album it sounds awesome, and live, it sounds tons better than it does on the album (nowdays anyhow).
