As cringe as this band can be i really find that the absurdity of the lyrics play really nice on the overarching stupidity of certain sects of mankind. Like when faced with a greater purpose we are almost destined to fail. Its not so much telling of our lack of abilities or anything like that, moreso just that we are inherently very flawed animals like everything else on the planet

This band isn’t cringe, it’s the fans that made it cringe adjacent. Back in the day, they really weren’t. It truly was the fans becoming douchey and treating MJK like God himself.

There have been several instances, but one very well-documented occasion where he was in an airport and wasn't getting what he wanted or some shit and was like poking the employee in the chest with his index finger calling him a f*****t and saying shit like "do you know who I am" etc

I love Tool, but they can definitely be cringe from time to time. It was already happening with some of the more pretentious and self-important lyrics on Aenima and Lateralus, but I think 10,000 Days is where it started turning into self-parody (whether intentional or not). Imagine having this beautiful two-part suite dedicated to your late mother, only to follow it up with a song about shitting yourself during an acid trip... it's kinda ridiculous, lol. But even Vicarious sets a weird tone for the album, like "hey, fuck you guys for being numb to the constant news cycle and horrible events going on outside your homes!" Just kinda feels like brow-beating
But despite all that, I do still love the band overall. Lateralus, for all its pretentious ramblings, is still one of my favorite modern rock/metal albums, and Aenima isn't far behind. I'd rate this one higher too, if it were more tonally consistent and the tracklist was switched around a bit

nah I'm not buying this at all. You can go watch the video. He's clearly hammered but from what i remember watching it a few years ago he was more implying to be careful with his arms because he's a drummer, not in a "do you know who i am" kinda thing.
Also every other account I've ever heard of anyone interacting with him has been that he is super nice and super chill.

Ah so being intoxicated excuses him from pushing the guy and calling him a f****t, sweet

Also, all accounts of his behavior are anecdotal. I have heard multiple accounts to the contrary as well. I guess it's up to our interpretation to believe what we want about his character

I have heard he’s a nice, laid back guy, which is why I was so surprised to hear that. From all accounts, he’s the most approachable/friendly member.
Though I waited on Adam Jones years ago and he was extremely friendly, humble and actually asked me questions about myself/furthered the conversation when I told him I was a fan. Definitely introverted and possibly doesn’t seem friendly, but is.
Haven’t met any of the others.

Like I said, your predisposition is gonna determine what u think about his character. If you've already made your mind up that he's a nice guy and there is no merit to that account/his arrest, then there's no point in having this conversation.

Rapist apologist ass logic

Maynard (and Tool's lyrics in general) has openly talked about how he hates celebrity worship, so criticizing Danny for his past offenses makes you technically a better Tool fan ironically enough lol
