I agree, while I will absolutely be getting vaccinated when I can, the idea of forcing people to get it doesn't sit well with me.

Definitely, but if we know a vaccine works and is harmless, it would be kind of nice if everyone got it.

In a perfect world yeah, but you can never know if a vaccine who's development has been fast-tracked and rushed its phase 1,2 and 3 trials to get emergency authorization will have any long-term side effects for people, even if its short-term safety profile looks good. Therefore it's understandable if not everyone rushes in line to get themselves and their family vaccinated right away.
|
| |
Indeed. Notice 'if it is harmless'.

Even if it’s not government-mandated, millions upon millions of people will take a vaccine the second it’s available. If it’s a bad vaccine (which it won’t be), millions upon millions of people will be fucked, regardless of whether the government intervenes.
All a government mandate would do is ensure that a higher percentage of people will take the vaccine. I understand everyone’s fear of “Big Brother,” but I think it’s important to take a step back and understand that if we really want to get this thing under control, the government really has to take a step up and make some unsavory decisions. If not, 2021 will be just as lonely as 2020.

like, I’m sorry, I want to attend live concerts sometime next year, lock the fuck down and eat your vaccine-vegetables

i mean aside from the long-term effects on virtually every aspect of the economy and society at large that will just continue to get more severe the longer this goes on, apparently things aren't looking so hot for some people that have contracted covid either.
i'd gamble that the combined social, economic, mental, and physical long-term implications of covid will vastly outweigh the physical long-term effects of the vaccine in hindsight
and from that perspective, the aversion to the vaccine seems a bit.....
annoying
to say the least

"apparently things aren't looking so hot for some people that have contracted covid either."
"and physical long-term implications of covid will vastly outweigh the physical long-term effects of the vaccine in hindsight"
what makes you say that? I've read a few studies where they did notice a few changes post-covid such as decreased lung capacity, holes in the lungs (in the most severe cases) but there is no evidence that any of this is permanent so far, as temporary lung damage and reduced capacity is common in other severe illnesses as well

i have prob like 15 friends that have had covid at this point, one of which was my roommate, one of which had it twice and was asymptomatic both times. the post fx of it seem to depend on the severity of the case. like if u have really bad pneumonia that's not covid it can still fuck u up forever

Cite a source for your data Valkoor952. Show me some evidence for the basis of your belief that "the majority of liberals" think Biden is an "exemplary person and politician".
PS: I have a degree in Physics, so you can take my word for it, apparently

@reich lol good times
"the post fx of it seem to depend on the severity of the case. like if u have really bad pneumonia that's not covid it can still fuck u up forever"
Yeah, I've read that it's bad for the most severe cases (which is usually the elderly), but haven't read anything definitive about the damage being permanent. Although if I had to guess with very old people it likely is, considering they don't have the same regenerative tissue and cell capacity that young people do.

It's completely relevant because you're not basing your opinion on ANYTHING. Anecdotal stories and opinions would be a massive step up in terms of data points for you.
