I feel like if this had been one my first Deftones albums I would enjoy it a lot more. As someone who had jammed all the albums preceding this though, it just rarely has any moments that blow me away. When there is a moment that seems to wow me, its usually followed up by a rather average one.
I'm also not really a fan of Steph's guitar style/tone or a lot of Chino's lyrics on here either. The only track I genuinely love every second of is Royal, and I think it's a classic.

Prince destroys everything off of Koi lyrics-wise.

KNY has bad moments lyrically but it's highlights blows this album out the water for me.
I can't stand the lyrics on Sextape or Rocket Skates and Prince always sounded like a poor White Pony B-Side to me and the lyrics aren't great either

used to love poltergeist but i don't dig it as much anymore. the verses are sick but that cheesy nu metal "THIIIIIIIIS TIIIIIIME" chorus ain't doin it for me these days

I never said the lyrics are simple in Prince and honestly I think the song can be interpreted in more than one way. I just think the imagery Chino paints in the lyrics could be a lot better.
Poltergeist doesn't have my favorite lyrics either but I enjoy them more than the comparable song Roller Skates. Leathers, Rosemary and Entombed are the songs off KNY that really do it for me lyrically.
