i think the production and songwriting are both absolutely perfect on this. but oh well, i guess this just isn't your cup of tea although i'm quite surprised about that

the production is really bad but it works. the guitar tone here is so alien, i've never heard anything like it and i love it.

I did something similar, actually. I had it at 5 for a while, it started growing off me, i was finding things i hated with every listen. eventually i stopped listening. then last summer, i put it on and thought to myself "what the fuck! why didn't i like this?"
The thing is, this is a supremely flawed album. The songwriting is incredibly disjointed. The vocalists both suck at singing. The lyrics are pretentious past the point of meaning. The production job is terrible. But i managed to find beauty among all these flaws, somehow. not everyone will, but you might, too.
