yea i think its just this style of straight-to-the-point meat and potatoes DM doesn't typically interest me - this is about on par with early Death, Morbid Angel and Deicide probably, I was always a bigger fan of Individual Thought Patterns onward for the former (Leprosy is about as much as I get from Death's early days) and, past Blessed are the Sick I couldn't be arsed to care about Morbid

it does have its appeal fs, just never scratched the particular itches i like my extreme metal to scratch. think i only really like DM when it's coupled with things like progressive/melodic/atmospheric influence, for ex i liked obscura by gorguts for its more out there and avant garde take

all i'm saying is this straight-to-the-point approach kinda makes tracks sound the same after a while - far from bad if you like the one trick - and diving deeper into the writing, lyricism, emotion doesn't seem to be the appeal of this style anyway, so it was probably not going to be my cup of tea to begin with xD
i'm listening to prog-era Enslaved right now and i'm liking that a lot more
